Care tips for the best burn
If you’re a fan of wooden wicks you probably know they can be a little finicky (but well worth it). Here are some common issues and ways to solve it.
- For your first burn, burn it at least 4 hours to ensure an even burn across the top. Never leave a fire unattended. If you are not able to be around to keep an eye on your candle choose a time when you can.
- Keep your candle on a solid, level, fireproof surface.
- Be mindful of pets and children around lit candles who can overturn a burning candle.
- Keep your wick short. Wooden wicks can be cut like cotton wicks, but if you don’t mind a little char on your fingers, give it a snap as close to the wax as possible.
- Burn no longer than 4 hours for a longer lasting candle.

How to use Cardboard Containers
Cardboard tube containers require only a little bit of brain rewiring. Rather than twisting an inner plastic mechanism, simply push gently on the bottom to advance the product whether it is lip balm, stain, lotion balm, etc. If you’ve advanced too much you can carefully push it back down again.
Whipped Butters
A get rich quick scheme. Whipped butters are extremely rich and requires about 1/2 the amount of product you’d need for a typical commercial product with silicones and other unsavory ingredients to plump up the formula without any benefit for your skin. Use sparingly or it will feel heavy and greasy for a while. Apply a light dollop and work the butter into your skin and see how the application feels. Many formulators add arrowroot in an attempt to lighten the richness but it never felt right, adding that dry ingredient. Instead, we have balanced hard to light oils so you are tempted to use less. And that’s the ticket.
Keep at room temperatures — preferably in a cool, dark place like a drawer or cupboard to maintain the whipped quality. If subjected to intense heat, the oils will liquify and will not reconstitute to its lovely whippy quality. The butter will still be as effective, it just won’t have the light quality and you’ll want to use even more sparingly. Natural products should be used within a year.
Solid Balms
Solid balms are made with more hard oils that only need skins temperature to soften. We recommend for products in the cardboard tube containers to apply on warmed or just washed skin. You may find initially it drags a bit but the balm will soften very quickly in reaction to your skin.
For hard lotions bars, hold in your hands to warm the bar and apply to skin.

Like leaving lip balms in the car, it won’t be long until they ooze along the edges as it softens up. Natural products should be used within a year.

How to care for Soap
