Laminated papers, shiny foils and harmful adhesives make a beautiful end product, but do the ends justify the means? Isola and Theo don’t think so and neither should you. From the wildcrafted inks formulated in studio to natural wax seals, our products are made to be returned to soil or curb-side pickup. After all, our products are natural to the core. The earth deserves full circle end use.

At some point oil became the bad boy of skincare. So naughty in fact, it was replaced with harsh ingredients in the attempt to targets breakouts — only to irritate skin to no one’s surprise. But
there is no comparison to rich oils like hemp or babassu, butters like shea or kokum, or natural waxes that provide silky texture for balms and lotions. And lest we forget the rich source of vitamins
found in fruits and hips.
These ingredients are everything.

Every skin type is different which is why we offer so many formulas. Though it would make it oh so easy to have just one recipe, we’d be no different than your commercial bar. Quite honestly, it keeps us on our toes and we like that. Some people love and require the benefits that goats milk soap provide while others are strictly vegan. There are nut allergies, the classic sensitive skin type, or acne prone skin.

EYE CREMES
Easy on the eyes
The eyes have it, and if they don’t they should. Formulated to work for the most sensitive skin, these non-comedogenic creams smooth and hydrates. We can’t do anything about your night-owl activities but we think this ritual is worth squeezing in.

If only we didn’t think of lotions and creams until our skin is crying out. But feeling is believing and you may just get addicted to just how good your skin feels. Let old habits die hard and kick defcon levels to the curb.

After working in the luxury retail and beauty industries I grew tired of the blind eye and refusal of commercial companies to step forward and push for change — to weed out the dirty little secrets and harmful or unnecessary packaging within cosmetics, skincare and candles. As a designer, though it is a dream to work with beautiful papers and printing methods, if I can't imagine this as a useful soil amendment in the end life it scares me for our future. Exhausted of seeing frivolous use of plastic? Yes, me too. If a product can not be reused, recycled or composted they have no place here. Each product should have a happy ending however you say goodbye — curbside or garden.
THE LOVE STORY
Our story began with a dog named Saint. When I met this wonderful little guy, I noticed he charmed the socks off anyone that walked by but heard, “oh that’s too bad,” upon seeing his blackened skin. I fell in love with him and it didn’t matter if he was a bit banged up, I only had eyes for him. Today he is known as Theodolus or “Theo”, named after the patron saint Theodolus of his gotcha day. I convinced my landlord to let me start a garden in the backyard of my historic townhouse to grow calendula with veggies. With his vet treatments, the calendula tinctures and salves helped ease his skin. For my part I wasn’t doing anything radical, but that’s the point. These things should not be radical. Relieving irritations does a world of good.
And then Isola came along. A dynamic, confident, very sick little Egyptian Mau rescue. An instant crackle and undeniable bond was obvious between them. Their pairing is the embodiment of confidence, playfulness and an imperfect perfection that is the essence of this brand. Ephemeral though I know their lives will be, this stills their names. They will experience life with different needs as we do. That humanizes a brand, which I always believe is important.
THE VISION
Our tastes, our chemistry and sensitivities change and so MUST our choices
No size-fits-all because our needs change too often. We promise a continual evolution with playful scent blends and pigments. Some core, some fleeting. We commit to evolve development of formulations as more plant-based products are studied and become available. We will confidently pursue the adaptation as technologies make more compostable materials available to small batch makers, and urge better choices for those that don’t. With these core philosophies we may perhaps find adaptations from cosmetics to fashion and modern medicine in the near future. In the very least, new experiences that become a comfort for your life.
