to goats milk

Goats milk is unbelievably rich in skincare benefits that it deserves an entire post, but the mineral highlight we really love is Selenium which helps improve your skin membrane. Goats milk is a natural (and kind of sneaky) exfoliant too for dead cell turnover as it is high in Lactic Acid but you’d never feel it working, promise. It’s wonderful for sensitive skin, providing relief for itch and allergies. Did we forget shea? No way. We use unrefined shea always to make sure all the nutritional power of this humble little nut is packed into our skincare.

If Eve had another chance she may have chosen a sultry plum to really seal the deal. This bar is out of this world delicious but please remember it is soap so don’t make like goat and eat it, and the wrapper. It’s still soap. The scent profile features top notes of bright citrus with cherry and plum, a deft touch of tropical floral middle notes, finished with warm amber and gourmand beans.

Formulation Overview

This bar is high in oleic acid, formulated to make a creamy, moisturizing lather. No bar should ever sit in a wet dish as this makes for a soggy, unhygienic bar. This formula is slightly softer than our other bars and will not hold up as well in an overly humid environment and is otherwise recommended as a hand soap. Avoiding excessive water, it can be used as a body bar and a natural loofah is recommended. All our products are formulated city and septic water safe.

As with all mineral bars from clays to charcoal it is normal to see the color leave your bar through use.

Using warm water, work the soap into a lather using hands or washcloth. Gentle enough to use everyday. For long lasting bars, leave in a dry place between use.

Olive oil extraction of cold pressing requires far less energy than some oils through refinement.

Shea Butter is extracted from the nut of the shea tree. The oils are separated by roasting and beaten with water to release the oils. The entire process is generally a women led initiative.

While soap is self-preserving, it is a natural product and subject to spoiling over a long period. Oils and butters oxidize at different speeds which makes estimating shelf life difficult. Ideally, soap should be stored in a dry, cool and dark place and used within 1-2 years. Over time, soap may exhibit “dreaded orange spots” (DOS) which are still safe to use only if your soap has not changed in its characteristics either becoming sticky or starting to smell rancid (a crayon-like smell). If so, please discard.
