Formulation
Whipped and soft to touch, this concentrated, light cream melts on contact and requires very little product. You can always add more. Perfect for spot treatments like elbows, knees and heels or full body, great after the shower when skin is still damp. Shea butter is the creme de la creme of butters, loved for its creamy texture melting on contact with skin, blended with safflower and hemp seed oils that absorb quickly and leave skin radiant.
This product is unscented and while the scent of shea is not for everyone, we really love the raw scent of shea and hemp which has a nutty, grassy smell. Unscented products are wonderful for those that are sensitive to fragrance and essential oils or for those that layer with their favorite fine fragrance.
Babassu is high in lauric acid, more moisturizing than coconut oil and high in vitamin E. Often chosen as a substitute for palm kernel oil, in fact it’s a nice bridge between coconut and palm oils.
Hemp plants are an extremely sustainable plant. Compared to 2-6 tonnes of carbon capture a forest can intake, hemp exceeds with an average 15 tonnes of carbon capture. It has a deep root structure that can seek out water deeply and can survive in drought conditions, requiring less water. It does not require pesticides or herbicides being very resilient, and produces flowers pollinators love. Because of it’s deep root structure it holds the soil well against erosion and helps break up the soil for the next crop rotation. Extraction is made through cold pressing, requiring far less energy than refined oils that use chemicals to change the structure of the fats.
Shea Butter is extracted from the nut of the shea tree. The oils are separated by roasting and beaten with water to release the oils. The entire process is generally a women led initiative.
